    If you have been the victim of abuse or rape, however far back in the past, you may find yourself struggling to come to terms with aspects of your life. Although you have done nothing wrong you may struggle with the feelings you are left with. 

    In addition to the Marjon Counselling Centre (which you can access by emailing studentsupport@marjon.ac.uk) the below are a number of support agencies that can help: 


    Devon rape and sexual abuse helpline

    The Devon rape and sexual abuse helpline offers a listening service for people over 16 years, who have been raped or sexually abused. They also offer support for partners, families and friends. Their lines are open: 

    Tuesday to Thursday from 19:00 to 22:00

    National LGBT Domestic Abuse Helpline

    The National LGBT Domestic Abuse Helpline offer emotional and practical support for LGBT people experiencing domestic abuse. This can be psychological, emotional, financial and sexual. Opening times are: 

    Monday to Wednesday from 10am – 5pm

    Thursday from 10am – 8pm

    Friday from 1pm – 5pm

    Sunday from 12pm – 4pm

    Tuesday is a trans* specific service running from 1pm – 5pm

    National Domestic Violence Helpline

    The National Domestic Violence Helpline is a service for women experiencing relationship violence. They also support and advise their family and friends. Translation facilities are available for callers whose first language is not English, and there is a service for callers who are deaf or hard of hearing.

    Men's Advice Line

    The Men's Advice Line provide support for heterosexual, gay and bisexual males via a free confidential helpline for men experiencing relationship violence from a partner or ex-partner (or from other family members). They offer emotional support, provide practical advice and can signpost you to other services for specialist help. There opening hours are: 

    Monday to Friday from 09:00 to 17:00

    Plymouth Domestic Abuse Service (PDAS)

    PDAS provides support for men, women and children needing advice or protection from domestic abuse.

    The Zone

    The Zone offers a range of information, advice, counselling and support services to 13 - 25 year olds. They run a Drop In service 6 days a week.
